Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Recoll is an open source full-text search tool for Linux. Among others, it has support for finding keywords inside text files (capable of reading all the popular document formats), email attachments, archive members, etc.
The latest version available is Recoll 1.19.14.1, which has been released a while ago.

In this article I will show you how to install 1.19.14.1 on Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, LXLE 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Isis and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Recoll 1.19.14.1 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS, LXLE and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the pa to your system, update the local repository index and install the recoll package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:recoll-backports/recoll-1.15-on
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install recoll
Optional, to remove recoll, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove recoll
Also, you can disable the ppa, remove recoll and downgrade all the packages that got updated via this PPA, to the version from the official repositories:
$ sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
$ sudo ppa-purge ppa:recoll-backports/recoll-1.15-on
